Has anyone ever heard of wintering begonias by cutting back to a couple inches above the soil line and bringing indoors to a cool dark area? I tried it this year and hopefully they will come back in spring when I water and add sunshine. In the past I've grown them as annuals, but I love the color of the ones I had last year and am trying this out. It easy enough to do if it works.

Hi mathiemail, My aunt does this every year, it sure saves money and I hate to waste a beautiful flower. I would bring it to the sunshine now though you can always cut it back if it gets to leggy, then put the cuts in water to root. Good luck I hope they work for you. I have planted some delaphenuims, some oramental red grass and a blue flower I don't remember what it was called I was growing last year it was really pretty and bushy but only an annual also, but to big to bring in, just waiting for them to come up now. My indoor gardening keeps me saine this time of year, but with the weather we have had this year I really can't complain. Lynn

Thanks for the tip Lynn. I wasn't sure when to bring them out. Don't have enough good light to do much indoors so I'm in withdrawal until spring.
    Thanks again.
