I have a 5 yr old Mantis 2cycle tiller that has run great every year, and even earlier this summer... now it's a struggle to start it, and once it is started it just shuts off & won't restart. Any ideas? (so far we've changed the gas, air filter, checked the fuel lines & the power connections)
Thanks for any ideas you have |

I had a problem with my Mantis a couple of years ago and traided it in for an Electric one. low and behold the Mechanic told me the only problem with my Gas powered one ,it had to have the timing reset. Of course I got a little red in the Face and I said O well.Check your Manuel or take it to the nearest Mantis Representing Agency. Call Mantis they will tell you where to go. Good Luck from the upper Shenandoah, Lifemember 70323938. |

At 5 years old, it's probably not worth it to hunt down a Mantis specific repair shop. Could probably take it to anyone that does small engine repair. It's likely out of warranty. |

Five Years is not old for a piece of equipment that cost Three Hundred Plus Bucks. I remember on the vidio where some instructions on how to adjust the timing. |

I have a Mantis that is 8 years old and had to take it to the shop this year....same problem as you are having....he charged me $20 and it is running great again! Now, I doubt you will find that kind of cheap repair, but I do think it might be worth taking it to a repair shop. |

Got a new one, two or three years ago. Because it weighed 2 pounds. Well, it is wonderful if the ground is torn up or already tilled. Mine just jumps around and jerks us all around even the kids. So we don't like it at all. I have had back surgery and I thought maybe I could use this kind of tiller. But NO, I can't, it made me hurt more. |

Our Mantis is 16 years old. Had to replace a small part about two years ago. It still works great. My husband services it himself. |

I use a honda troybilt with counter rotating tines (CRT). It covers a two foot wide space. Id does a good job because its weight keeps it stable. |
