Hi All, It has been a long time since I posted in here; I have just retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. I planned my move from TX to TN in April as it will be much easier to move my orchid collection... a 30 plant mixed collection. Does anyone have any suggestions about making a long move with orchids easier? Thanks... Noah

HI!! I moved from Ohio to Arizona about a year and a half ago. I brought my orchids with me (of course!). I used tape around the pots to keep the orchids in place on their cart. I also set some in larger pots and added orchid medium as packing material. You might also ask at any of the floral departments that sell orchids at local grocery stores for the boxes that the plants are shipped in, including the packing material within the box. Easter is coming up--many stores will have orchids. I hope that will help you with your packing.

My daughter brought me an orchid for Mothers Day. Now that it has stopped blooming, what kind of light does it need? It said to put 3 ice cubes in it once a week. Any help is greatly appreciated. Happy gardening!!!!!

What kind of Orchid? Cattleya, Phalaenopsis, etc???? Most orchids like shade, but lots of light --- lots grow in trees in the wild, I usually water mine daily in the morning since any planting medium dries out in one day here in the 80*F's and 90*F's and fertilize once a week in summer. Don't over-water. Let dry between each watering. The Phalaenopsis grows upside down in the wild and does not like water in the crown. If course there is an orchid that grows in the rain forest that wants water, water, and more water.... Do you have an orchid society in your town? You might contact them and find out special requirements for your particular area. Good Luck.... Some of the more experienced orchid growers can probably give you better info.

Cardinal, don't know if the orchid had a name or not. I have it on top of my stand and it gets plenty of light but it seems to be dying. I don't know what to do for it. God bless Kathy

Wow hello again and 30 orchids bet they are all so pretty? Are the easy to grow for you? I have seen them but always wonder if they were easy to grow indoors?
